February 20, 2023: As I Begin My Blog
I’m currently in my mid-40s, having married in my mid-20s, with one child who is about to graduate high school.
Since 2007, I’ve been working in the U.S., and with 18 years of professional experience, I’ve switched jobs about four times. I currently work as the head of portfolio management and operations at an investment firm.
Although I hold a team leader title, I don’t have any direct reports.
I handle Finance, Tax, Accounting, and Audit tasks for the investment team.
My current salary is a little over $200,000 with an additional bonus each year.
I’ve been at this company for about a year, and unlike other investment firms in Manhattan, the team here is respectful, avoids unnecessary interference, and the executives are all reasonable.
I've been in the U.S. for almost 20 years, and due to my recent job change, I relocated to the New York/New Jersey.
The main reason I started this blog is because I’ve always wanted a space outside of work to share my thoughts, connect with others, and express myself.
While YouTube is popular, it doesn’t suit me—filming and editing are difficult, and speaking on camera feels awkward.
That’s why I chose blogging.
It might seem a bit outdated, but it feels comfortable, warm, and like my own space.
Even though my writing skills might not be perfect, who cares?
Blogging is about sharing my thoughts and connecting, not about being judged or critiqued.
Most importantly, I no longer want to delay and regret starting this.
In this space, I plan to share the books I’ve read, my journey of growing wealth, stories about the people I meet, and the path I want to follow in life.
I hope to connect with others and share this journey together.
And like anyone, I hope that someday, my words will offer strength and comfort to someone out there.
